Maceió is the capital of the state of Alagoas in northeastern Brazil. It boasts some of the most gorgeous laces in Brazil and fantastic food (the tapiocas made with polvilho azedo and grated coconut or carne de sol and queijo de coalho, also known as "the crępes of the Northeast," are superb)...and some of the most original public telephones in Brazil!
